FENNEC FOX
Sahara is a bundle of energy! She is not the kind of fox you
find in North America. She is a Fennec Fox, commonly known as a
Desert Fox. They can be found in the deserts of Egypt and they never
grow to be more than 4 pounds. Sahara loves to visit people and kids
however loud noises can make her skittish so we don't bring her to
visit large groups. She has the most unbelievable ears! They use
their ears to keep them cool in the desert heat. They are sort of
like "air conditioners!" (the kids call them "ear conditioners"!)
Fennec Foxes can also obviously hear quite well! They have fur on
the bottom of their feet to protect their pads from the hot desert
sand. Although they are very cute... fennecs DO
NOT make good house pets!
