Meet Penny             BALL PYTHON
Penny the Python is a ball python.  Ball pythons come from Africa and are generally very easy going snakes.  They are constrictors and lack venom.   As of March, 2004, over 15,000 children have touched Penny.  She is a very curious and docile snake.  She sheds quite often and when we visit schools, we bring along her old snake skin for the children to see!  Her eyes turn a bluish color when she is about to shed.  She is a fantastic learning experience for children!  It is so very important for us to teach people that snakes have an important purpose in our world.  They eat rats and mice who might carry deadly sickness and disease into our homes.  They have gotten a very undeserved bad reputation.  Most snakes are harmless however we do make sure that the children fully understand that they are never to touch a wild snake or even approach one for that matter.
