           PRAIRIE DOGS
Prairie Dogs come from out west and live in burrows that they dig deep underground.  They create some of the most exceptional little houses in their tunnels.  They actually even make special "bathroom areas" and "kitchen areas" and "sleeping quarters!"  Prairie dogs love to eat grass and hay.  They have flat ears so as they are digging or running through their tunnels, they don't get dirt stuck in their ear lobes.  A baby prairie dog is called a "pup".  All prairie dogs make the cutest little sound that we call a "YAHOO" when they get excited.  Our prairie dogs are named "Hannah" and "Montana".  They are very social animals but very fast so they are observation only animals.  But hopefully, they will give the kids a "YAHOO" when they come to visit!
