Great resource regarding the care of kangaroos!

Some animals are not legal in all states to keep as a pet, you must make sure this animal is legal in your state before acquiring it. (we may have animals that are permitted only with a license for education)

If you have a child in the house, children tend to forget that even though the chinchilla is friendly and curious, it probably doesn't like to be cuddled.   Chinchillas also stress out pretty easily and can loose their fur (this is a defense mechanism and is called fur slipping) and even die from stress.  They are nocturnal animals so they need to be able to sleep some during the day.  This is why a chinchilla makes a lousy classroom pet and why they aren't a great pet for your child's bedroom.  They are also very active and great jumpers so they need PLENTY of space and exercise out of the cage.  Chinchillas can also be expensive to purchase along with the expense of a large cage, wheel, nest box, dust, special food, fresh fruits and hay.

There are also a lot of fun and exciting things about having a chinchilla as part of your family.  We just feel it's important to point out some of the reasons a chin might not be for you.  Just as with any animal, you must do your research before taking one home.  We've only touched the tip of the iceberg.  Click on the links below for more detailed information.
