Felix the hedgehog is a ball of fun! Hedgehogs come from Africa and all over Europe. Felix is an African pygmy hedgehog. He has lots of quills all over his body. When hedgehogs are nervous they do something interesting called 'self annointing'. They actually create a foam from their mouth and lick the foam onto their quills! Hedgehogs can run up to 12 miles an hour! When we visit children, we hold Felix up close so the kids can see his face and even let the more adventurous kids touch his quills! He makes very interesting noises. We always include information about why the kids might not want to choose a hedgehog as a 'pet.' They are very cute but they certainly aren't the most cuddly creatures on the planet!
