Ocho is a Chilean Rose Haired Tarantula from South America! Ocho is a ground dwelling spider so he doesn't form webs in the trees. He is quite large so if he were to fall more than a couple of feet, he would surely die. He's very calm and we can hold him; however, we do not allow the children to touch him. Tarantulas have urticating hairs that can be very irritating to some people's skin. Ocho loves to eat crickets! He has 8 legs and 2 feelers called pedipalps. He's quite an impressive spider! Spiders are also called arachnids! Spiders are very important to our ecosystem. They have a great purpose on this earth.... to eat as many of those pesky insects as possible!
